Skirts, cornices and doors
Went for a visit on the 29th September after we got back from our trip to Thailand to see any progress. Bricks are still finishing, all skirts, cornices and doors were on. The house is at the lock-up stage but the back door was left open so we could still sneak in for some photos :)

Electric, plumbing and bricks begin
We went down to the block again on the 9th September to have a look at the progress. At first I was a bit like :( Oh boo the bricks aren't up (as we drove up the road)
After pulling up in the driveway it became apparent LOTS of things had happened this week that I was clueless about. The electrical rough out had been completed including the heating unit in the roof, data cables, etc. The plumbing rough out also had been completed both for recycled and normal water piping. We have a real front door - YAY! and completed roof.
We have had both shower bases put in and have a tub - woohoo! (Love the shape and depth of it too). All of hte pink batt insulation is completed inside as well and ready for plaster to be hung. The front bricks have gone up, plaster has been delivered and bricks have been piled around the house ready to go.
So... heaps has been done! See the construction tab for more photos.. hopefully bricks next week :)

The roof the roof
Gotta love a roof!
We went for another look today - Blair's finished footy and cricket hasn't started yet :)
Progress: Roof trusses, roof tiles, windows, alfresco post, fascia and guttering
You can see the bricks around - apparently the brickie is due Monday!
See construction tab for more photos...

Argh PAINT!
Choosing paint is hard!
So we went off to Mitre 10 to look and choose paint chips today. It is not the first time I've looked but gee it was hard! Everything looks cream to me! We finally found a slightly stone grey looking paint called Strauss White and Magnesium which looks a bit creamy to me but Blair liked it so I said ok!
My scanner did a terrible job but you get the general idea of our colour scheme.
We also picked the splashback colour - again Blair's choice! He never ceases to amaze me how he chimes in just at the right time with some input :)

Kitchen tiles carpets
Decisions Decisions Decisions.......
Since everything has been zooming along with our slab and frame we needed to get going on our colour choices and selections.
We headed to the kitchen place first and John the kitchen man expertly tweaked our plans and made recommendations. He did a great job and helped us with our colour choices too.
Below is a sketch of what the kitchen will look like on one wall.. It took a lot of tweaking to make this happen!
Next we headed to the tiling shop to pick floor, walls and feature tiles. We decided to stick to the given budget and save money for the kitchen extras.
Last we were off to the carpet shop. We picked a twist pile called soot (dark grey)
Last of all we need to pick our splashback and paint colours.. Then we can relax and head off on our holiday!

Two weeks to title?
So Blair has called George the last 2 times ..
In May he said June title and settlement.
Now it is mid-June and the last phone call was George saying EVERYTHING is done. Paperwork is at the titles office. That was Tues 12th June.
He believes 2 weeks till titles ready (26th June)
2 weeks till settlement (10th July)
Let's see...
I'll believe it when I see it.

Tick tock
SO.. its may and we are still waiting.. somewhat patiently.
Am I surprised? No. Disappointed? Very much so.

Labour Day 12 March 2012
Another public holiday = another trip to Pakenham..
This time the roads are almost sealed and we have a street sign!
Other than that.... we have grass? Still nothing much to report and no idea when it'll be titling time. The camera batteries ran out before I could take pictures of the poor blocks at the end of Hamish Ave. If we are waiting for them before we title - we could be waiting awhile! They don't even have driveways or paths let alone sealed roads.
Also, we have been getting the ball rolling with our building contracts (by request of our mortgage man) and have found out in this process that the developer has still not yet registered Stage 3 with South East Water. This could take at least a month to get going too.. Not looking good for a march settlement and its getting closer to wet weather. Boo!
Friday, 17 February 2012
Updated plans! We need to add a couple of powerpoints and move manhole cover and RA around - just a little fussy jobs. Also want to change the lounge window to 2x highline windows..
Then we could be done! YAY!
A lovely person on the homeone - winkle13- forum spoke to the developer who has said end of March for settlement! Great! We should be on track...
Now to finalise costs with builder and then get building contract to mortgage broker.. Progress :)

Progress!
16/1- We have had to re-apply for our homeloan because the last application expired..
So I needed to call SJD Homes (our awesome builder) to see how far off we were from doing a soil test.
17/1 - Soil test is done and sent off. Head to display homes to updated our plan and chose our EXTERNAL colours.
Wanna see our choices?
Here is a mock up from Metricon's Studio M - Envisage program. A great tool for anyone who needs a picture before they can really visualise something.
Colours include:
Bricks- Austral Blackwood
Mortar - Off White
Roof Tiles - Newcastle
Gutters – Woodland Grey
The colours have warped a little from scanning but you get the idea!
Can you tell I'm a bit excited? It's just so nice to be able to actually get the ball rolling. Our pile of 'house' things i is accumulating too so it'll be fun when we get up to the interior choices too! Yay!
